I saw Cale play a solo show at a club called The Broadway back in the late '80s. He performed an abbreviated set and encore. "The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak," he said before ending his gig.

Luckily, the flesh is healthier these days. And the spirit, like the music, shines like a black diamond.
